Well, pretty much any kind of dance can be used to explain plasma or other sciences. Of course some dances are easier to use to express different ideas. I think that partner dances like swing or salsa are great for showing how two different parts interact. In a plasma this would be the ions and electrons. Individual or group dances like ballet or breakdancing make it easy to show large changes of a system, such as changes energy.
I like South American dances a lot, so I’ve used tango and bachata to show how atoms and molecules that are energized by sunlight change from having no charge separate into electrons and ions.
I do! I’m working with some PhD students in the department right now to turn their research into dances. It’s a lot of fun to see an abstract idea become something more concrete.
