Climate change is one of the biggest issue facing everyone on the planet. It is also a problem that everyone, no matter what their age or job, can do something about in their daily life. In my opinion, it’s a real shame that people are still talking about whether it’s real or not instead of talking about what they are doing to make it better.
Totally with Angeline on this. There is exceptionally strong scientific evidence for climate change and it is a huge shame that vested political/corporate interests have downplayed this evidence.
On the other hand, some climate scientists have not behaved particularly well. If your work is funded by the taxpayer (i.e. the public) then you should not be at all reticent to share that work *and all of your data* with the public.
I agree with you I think people should stop discussing about whether or how fast its happening and start to solve it or slow it down, what do you think we should do about it?
On a personal level, reducing-reuse-recycle are the three things we can do every day. Reducing and reusing have the largest impact. For example, most people throw out clothes that can be easily fixed or adapted for another use. A lot of us also use disposible goods like paper towels and bottled drinks, which result in a lot of unnecessary waste. Transport is another source of energy use that can be reduced by walking, cycling, and using public transport.
On a larger level, we really need stricter laws on allowable energy sources and pollution. I know in the US coal is still used to produce electricity in a lot of states, and even those that have outlawed it still mine coal and ship it to China. Global agreements to share clean technology with developing countries are also important. Letting politicians know that pollution and energy use are a priority is very important.
