      I enjoy helping people. I also like that I am constantly learning new things as we develop treatment techniques for cancer.

      I like getting to “see” things that aren’t visible with our eyes.

      Scientists working at universities are lucky in that they generally get to do both research and teaching. The thing I enjoy most about our research is that we’re working with the fundamental building blocks of matter – atoms – but controlling them by computers (or, in some sense, robots). This allows us to build structures no one has ever seen or made before.

      On the teaching side, the most enjoyable aspect is interacting with the next generation of physicists whose questions and enthusiasm always keep me on my toes!
