      Hi Beth.

      Work wise:
In the next year I’m aiming to become a registered scientist with the Health and Care Professions Council. They are a professional body set up by parliament to protect the public by ensuring all scientists working in healthcare are good at their job.

After that I want to get involved in the training of the new scientists.

I don’t plan to be the head of a medical physics department as I wouldn’t like the management side of things.

      Personal wise:
I just got married and bought a house. In the future i want to have children but would want to keep working.

I moved to London for my job but my family don’t live here so in the future i plan on moving closer to family.

I’d like to become a professor. It seems like the best way to combine teaching and research, but it’s very competitive!

In a few months I’m changing jobs to go to work for another observatory in the US.

I’d really like to bring together researchers working on images/imaging not just in science (i.e. from astronomers to nanoscientists) but in psychology, education, art history, sociology etc… It would be very interesting indeed to bring together lots of people from different fields to focus on image research. Whether it’ll ever be possible to get the funding to do this is another matter.

I’m also quite keen to find the time to write a book about the links between quantum physics and rock music. (There are lots of genuine connections!).
