0 Question: How do you make different atom structures? Keywords: atom structure, make Asked by rebel to Philip on 10 Mar 2015.
Philip Moriarty answered on 10 Mar 2015:
Oh, that’s a *big* question!
We work with an instrument called a scanning probe microscope. This uses a very sharp (atomically sharp) probe to scan and/or modify a surface. This video explains how it works and how we manipulate atoms: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBmBMmuUBMk
For more “nitty gritty” information on how scanning probes can be used to manipulate atoms see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYi4DLu584o
Hope this helps.
